About Barry
Barry qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 having completed his articles at Grant Thornton in Cape Town. After a stint in the financial services industry in London, Barry returned to South Africa to oversee the financial restructuring and turnaround of one of the country’s largest coal miners, which had been acquired by a major international commodity trading house. The company was returned to profitability and sold into a newly-formed FTSE 100 global mining concern. Barry then returned to London where he co-founded a boutique financial advisory firm, focussed on distressed situations and debt restructuring, primarily in the resources and media sectors.
Barry has been involved in various high profile, large and complicated Business Rescue, operational turnaround and workout matters over the last few years, and has extensive experience in this regard, specifically in the retail, mining and commodity sectors.
